The city of Peoria and Big Picture Peoria will unveil a new mural on the Niagara Parking Deck on Tuesday, September 10 at 9:30 a.m. The event will take place at Great Harvest Bread Company, located inside OSF HealthCare System at 124 SW Adams Street in downtown Peoria.

The mural will be installed on the city-owned Niagara Parking Deck at 111 SW Adams Street. The project received final approval for a special use permit by the Peoria City Council on August 27, following recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission and a review from the Public Arts Advisory Commission.

Created by nationally recognized artist Alex Carmona, who relocated to Peoria from Colorado five years ago, the mural showcases his expertise in relief printmaking. Carmona specializes in woodcuts, reduction woodcuts, and wood carvings/engravings. His work has been exhibited globally.

Speakers at the unveiling will include Peoria Mayor Rita Ali, Mark Misselhorn of the Big Picture Peoria board, Community Foundation of Central Illinois CEO Mark Roberts, and Gilmore Foundation President Laura Cullinan.
