Peoria County Board - County Health Committee met Aug. 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

MEMBERS PRESENT: Rob Reneau – Chairperson; Camille Coates – Vice Chairperson; Jennifer Groves Allison, Brandy Bryant, Linda Daley, Betty Duncan, Brian Elsasser, Nathan Hoerr, Danny Phelan, Steven Rieker, Phillip Salzer, Sharon Williams

MEMBERS ABSENT: Eden Blair

STAFF PRESENT: Scott Sorrel – County Administrator; Shauna Musselman – Assistant County Administrator; Jennie Cordis Boswell - State's Attorney's Office; Heather McCord, Julie Kusturin – Finance; Gretchen Pearsall, Andre Allen – County Administration; Monica Hendrickson – Health Department; Jason Marks – EMA; Beth Crider, Kristie Hubbard, Cara Pence, Angelo Parker, Bobby Anderson – Regional Office of Education; Becca Cottrell – Sustainability & Resource Conservation; Kevin Lowe – Public Defender;

Call to Order

Chairperson Reneau called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m.

A motion to approve the participation of Members Salzer and Hoerr via teleconference was made by Ms. Daley and seconded by Ms. Duncan. The motion carried (10-0).

Approval of Minutes

A motion to approve the minutes of June 25, 2024 and July 23, 2024 was made by Ms. Daley and seconded by Mr. Phelan. The motion carried (12-0).

Informational Items / Reports / Other Minutes / Updates

•  Board of Health

Ms. Hendrickson provided an update on the activities of the Health Department and Board of Health. Highlights included:

•  Community Health Needs Assessment Survey

•  The Board of Health is working through its strategic planning process

•  HUD application to allow mitigation for qualified homes

Mr. Sorrel gave an update on the new HHS campus. Highlights included:

•  Project activity

•  Balance paid to River City Construction so far: $14,065,424

•  Current Milestones

•  A 4-week lookahead

•  EMA

Ms. Hendrickson directed committee members to the report and highlighted two table-top exercises:

•  Peoria Co. Elections Commission TTX: Democracy Defender – Ensuring Electoral Integrity in Elections on July 30, 2024

•  Bradley University TTX: Brave Response Crisis Management Exercise on August 9, 2024

•  Regional Office of Education

Ms. Crider and her truancy team of Kristie Hubbard, Cara Pence, Angelo Parker, and Bobby Anderson provided an update on truancy in the County and what is being done to get children back to school including:

•  Conduct school and home visits

•  Communicate with students, families, and school districts

•  Align resources to meet family and student needs

•  Problem solve with students, families, school, and local service organizations

•  Attend and participate collaboratively in student, family, and school meetings

•  Sustainability & Resource Conservation

Ms. Cottrell directed committee members to the report and noted that the registration links for the events listed in the report are on the website.

Ms. Groves Allison asked if the energy efficiency had been updated with the new cooling system for IT and with the new HHS campus. Ms. Cottrell stated that Mr. Little had provided her with the spec sheets for the new cooling units, but she did not have numbers for HHS yet.

Mr. Reneau called for any public comments. There were none.
