FOIA Request to City of Wyoming Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent by us at Peoria Standard to the City of Wyoming on October 30, 2024. The request seeks access to records related to both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till the present date.
Specifically, we requested a list of all new residential and commercial building permits with details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address of the property for which the permit was issued, and the contractor's name.
Additionally, we sought information about all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above were requested for these active permits.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to these public records is essential for our reporting. This information allows us to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to our readers.
We believe that as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under FOIA provisions. We await a response from the City of Wyoming regarding this request.
