A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Minonk on October 30, 2024. The request, made by us at Peoria Standard, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks access to records related to residential and commercial building permits.
The information requested includes a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, until the present date. Specific fields of interest include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also requested for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above are sought for these active permits as well.
As members of the media committed to providing transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe that access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have therefore requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
