FOIA Request to City Of West Peoria Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City Of West Peoria.
The request, sent on October 30, 2024, seeks detailed information about all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till the present date. The requested details include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address of the property in question and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also asked for a list of all currently active residential and commercial building permits along with their status. The same fields as mentioned above are requested for these active permits.
Access to public records is crucial for us at the Peoria Standard to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
