FOIA Request to City of Farmington Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our continued commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Peoria Standard have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Farmington in Illinois.
The request seeks access to records of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date. The information requested includes the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the work is being done, and the contractor's name.
In addition to this, we also asked for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above were requested for these active permits as well.
As a media organization, we believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. In line with this role in disseminating information, we have also sought a fee waiver as a media professional.
We are awaiting a response from the City of Farmington and will continue to keep our readers updated on developments regarding this matter.
