On December 9, 2024, LaHood expressed concerns about the situation in Syria. He stated that "Hundreds of thousands of Syrians have lost their lives, and countless others have suffered under Assad’s rule." He further suggested that the fall of Assad's regime presents an opportunity for the United States and its allies to pursue peace and stability in the region.
On December 11, 2024, LaHood congratulated fellow Congressman Mike Bost on his confirmation as Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. In his tweet, he said "Congratulations to my friend @RepBost on being confirmed for another term as Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs!" He expressed confidence in Bost's leadership and commitment to veterans.
Later that day, LaHood announced a personal legislative achievement with the signing into law of his FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act. He noted "I was thrilled to see my FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act signed into law earlier today!" The act allows the U.S. Treasury to issue commemorative coins for the upcoming World Cup hosted by the United States.
