House Minority Leader Tony McCombie has appointed State Representative Travis Weaver to the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (CGFA) for the 104th General Assembly. The CGFA, a bipartisan legislative budget commission, consists of 12 members, evenly split between Republicans and Democrats from both the House and Senate.

Rep. Weaver expressed gratitude for his appointment, stating, "Thank you to Leader McCombie for appointing me to this vital and respected committee. The CGFA provides objective, and nonpartisan information to the General Assembly and works on behalf of all Illinois residents in an unbiased fashion. It plays an essential role in Illinois state government, and I’m very grateful that the Leader has entrusted me with this opportunity."

The commission is responsible for issuing reports on economic trends related to budgeting and the state's fiscal condition. These reports help determine proper fiscal policies for Illinois. Among its responsibilities are providing Revenue Estimate and Economic Outlook reports, Legislative Capital Plan Analysis, assessments of Liabilities of the State Employees Group Insurance Program, as well as an annual Budget Summary. Additionally, it publishes an annual report on the Financial Condition of the Illinois Pension Systems.

In addition to Rep. Weaver's appointment, Representatives C.D. Davidsmeyer and Joe Sosnowski have also been appointed by Leader McCombie to serve on the CGFA during this assembly session. Notably, Rep. Davidsmeyer serves as a Co-Chairman.
