February 4, 2025, Peoria, IL – A Peoria County Judge has approved the transfer of a local teenager's case to adult court. The teen, Naidren Williams, who was charged with shooting a 16-year-old male in August last year, will face charges of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm as an adult. At the time of the incident, Williams was 15 years old but is now 16.

Since his arrest following the shooting incident on August 20, Williams has been held at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center. Authorities have filed for his continued detention, and this request will be reviewed in court tomorrow.

The shooting took place around 7:30 pm on August 20, 2024. Officers responded to reports of a person shot in the 2700 block of W. Wyoming in South Peoria. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim lying in an alleyway with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim sustained three gunshots, including one to the head but survived and later identified Williams as the shooter.

During a search at Williams’s residence following his identification by the victim, police recovered a firearm. Forensic analysis confirmed that shell casings from this weapon matched those found at the scene of the crime.

The investigation into this case remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Peoria Police Department at 309-673-4521.
