A 16-year-old male has been charged with armed robbery following an incident involving a sanitation worker in Peoria, Illinois. The juvenile suspect allegedly robbed the worker at gunpoint while he was on his route in the East Bluff area. Following a court appearance, the state's request for detention was approved, and the defendant will remain in custody at the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center. Prosecutors plan to file a petition to transfer the case to adult court.

The robbery occurred around 4 PM on Thursday in an alley located in the 2700 block of N. Missouri. According to police reports, the victim was emptying a trash can into his garbage truck when approached by three individuals. One suspect pointed a gun at him and instructed him to raise his hands. The firearm was then handed to another individual, identified as the defendant, with instructions to shoot if necessary. While held at gunpoint, the victim's wallet, car keys, reflective jacket, and phone were stolen before all three suspects fled.

During routine patrols of the area, officers apprehended the defendant. A show-up identification process led to confirmation from the victim that this individual was involved in the robbery.
