Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias has provided an update for residents regarding the REAL ID as the federal enforcement deadline of May 7 approaches. To assist residents, a new online portal has been introduced to guide them in determining their need for a REAL ID, and if necessary, how to locate a facility or schedule an appointment.

Giannoulias stated that "Saturday hours will also be available at 12 DMV locations around the state." These locations will concentrate exclusively on providing REAL ID services.

The information provided aims to help residents assess whether they require a REAL ID.
