State Representative Ryan Spain recently paid tribute to the Dorathy family from Tampico, Illinois, during a session on the House floor. The recognition was for their advocacy in promoting legislation aimed at enhancing young driver safety in Illinois. This effort is embodied in House Bill 2942, introduced by Rep. Spain.
The initiative follows a tragic event where DJ Dorathy lost his life in a vehicle accident in March 2024. In response to this loss, DJ's mother, Chasity Dorathy, has been proactive in advocating for improved driving safety measures for young individuals across the state.
Chasity Dorathy joined Rep. Spain as they presented HB 2942, which successfully passed out of committee with unanimous support and will now be considered by the full House of Representatives as of March 12, 2025.
