State Representative Ryan Spain has been honored as the 2025 Legislative Champion by the Illinois Credit Union League for his work in supporting the credit union sector. Spain, representing the 73rd District, received the award during the State Legislative Summit in Springfield on April 8. This honor marks the first time the award has been given, with State Senator Dave Koehler, representing the 46th District, also being recognized.

Both legislators have shown a dedication to issues pertinent to the credit union industry in the past year. The Illinois Credit Union League recognized their work and expressed gratitude for their commitment.

Ashley Sharp, the Senior Vice President of State Advocacy and Legislative Counsel for the Illinois Credit Union League, praised the legislators, stating, “We are truly grateful for Senator Koehler’s and Representative Spain’s leadership in the Illinois General Assembly. We appreciate their knowledge and understanding of issues important to the credit union industry.” She emphasized the importance of such leadership for the future operation of credit unions in Illinois.

Representative Spain commented on the recognition: “I’m honored to receive this recognition as 2025 Legislative Champion from the Illinois Credit Union League. Credit unions are a valuable part of our financial system that provide their members with access to financial services in a uniquely personalized way.” He emphasized his commitment to continuing work with credit unions.
