April 11, 2025, Peoria, IL – Leroy Mackey, a 53-year-old man, has been charged with Criminal Sexual Assault for sexually abusing a relative under the age of 18 nearly four years ago. The victim has only recently disclosed the abuse. A detention hearing took place, and the State’s Petition to Detain Mackey was denied. The judge released Mackey from custody, imposing conditions such as GPS electronic monitoring, no contact with the victim, and no contact with minors.
The case emerged on March 11 after officers responded to a report from a local school. A student reported sexual abuse at home. The victim revealed to officers that at ages 12 and 13, Mackey had sexually abused them multiple times. Officers also received an audio recording where Mackey discussed the abuse with the victim and apologized.
