State Representative Ryan Spain of Illinois has been recognized by three statewide organizations for his advocacy efforts. Spain, representing the 73rd District, received the 2025 Legislator of the Year award from ABATE of Illinois, a leading motorcyclist advocacy group, and the Illinois State Ambulance Association (ISAA). Additionally, the Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) honored him as an inaugural winner of their 2025 Legislative Champion award.
Spain expressed his gratitude, stating: “I’m honored to be recognized by ABATE, the Ambulance Association, and the Credit Union League.” He added that achieving good public policy is a collaborative effort between citizens, organizations, and elected officials.
Alongside Spain, Senator Jason Plummer was also recognized by ABATE of Illinois. Spain commented, “Even though I do not enjoy self-promotion, being recognized for my advocacy means a great deal to me, and I look forward to continuing to work with these organizations and others.”
Spain, apart from his legislative duties, co-chairs the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR), which reviews administrative rules crafted by state agencies. This role has drawn praise for ensuring laws reflect their intended purpose while safeguarding citizen rights.
The ICUL, in awarding Spain, highlighted his leadership and contributions to the credit union movement. State Senator Dave Koehler also received recognition in the State Senate. Ashley Sharp from ICUL emphasized the importance of Spain's and Koehler's leadership, stating: “The strong support of leaders like Senator Koehler and Representative Spain will ensure that credit unions can continue to meet the financial needs of consumers across Illinois.”
John “Hunter” Harris, Chairman of ABATE PAC, applauded Spain for his ongoing support of motorcyclists' rights in Illinois. ISAA President Kim Godden commended Spain for his leadership in the ambulance industry, noting his efforts to reduce administrative burdens and secure vital reimbursements.
