Rep. Ryan Spain criticizes Gov. Pritzker over redistricting promises

“There is no bigger hypocrite on the topic of gerrymandering than Gov. JB Pritzker. He ran on the promise of delivering fair maps to the people of Illinois,” said state Rep. Ryan Spain, a Republican from Peoria and deputy minority leader. “He made me a personal promise that he would work on this topic, and he signed the most blatantly partisan gerrymandered maps in the entire country.”

Gov. JB Pritzker recently met with lawmakers from Texas as Democrats discuss strategies to respond to Republican congressional redistricting plans ahead of the 2026 elections, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

Spain has served as a Republican member of the Illinois State House since 2017, representing the state's 73rd House District after succeeding David R. Leitch.
