Last week, Governor JB Pritzker signaled support for fair legislative maps in Illinois, despite having previously signed into law what critics call highly gerrymandered maps. During his initial campaign for governor, Pritzker had pledged to veto any partisan-drawn legislative maps. However, after taking office, he approved maps that were drawn by Democrats behind closed doors.
The recent statements from the governor have raised questions about whether Illinois residents can trust his commitment to fair redistricting. "Actions speak louder than words, Governor," the statement read.
