A new law designed to improve Illinois’ response to human trafficking was signed on Wednesday. The legislation, which received bipartisan support, aims to create a coordinated approach among state agencies to address the needs of victims affected by both sex and labor trafficking.

Deputy House Minority Leader Ryan Spain commented on his involvement in the measure. “I was proud to be one of the lead sponsors on this bipartisan legislation streamlining our response to human trafficking,” said Spain.

The law establishes a framework for state agencies to provide trauma-informed care for victims. This effort is intended to ensure that individuals impacted by human trafficking receive appropriate services and support.

Spain, a Republican, has represented Illinois’ 73rd House District since 2017 after succeeding David R. Leitch. More information about the bill and its background can be found in coverage from the Sun-Times – Click Here.
