Democratic energy policies in Illinois have led to a decrease in power generation capacity and higher prices for residents, according to House Republicans. They argue that these policies have made energy less affordable for families across the state.

"Democrats’ failed energy policies have reduced power generation capacity in our state and caused prices to soar for our residents. House Republicans are fighting for affordability with improved energy strategies. Illinois families simply cannot afford to pay the bill for Democrats’ green energy fantasies," a statement from House Republicans said.

Travis Weaver, a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023, represents the state's 93rd House District after replacing Norine Hammond.
