City of Marquette Heights City Council met Sept. 22.

CALL TO ORDER
The City Council meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Mayor Little.
ROLL CALL
Aldermen present for Roll Call: Alderman Neuhaus, Crum, Babb and Joos.
Also present were Clerk Steele, Treasurer Worent, Attorney Herman, Water Superintendent Smith, Street Superintendent Helms, and Building Inspector Dearborn.
Absent: Chief Merritt and Fire Chief Hermacinski
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
Mayor
Communication of agenda items before being placed
Moment of silence for Charlie Owens, who was an Alderman for the City for 8 years.
Clerk
Requested all Aldermen bring in their tablets and power supplies to the Committee meeting. They will be left overnight so IT can update security features.
Communications – please write e-mails to share information and make sure to read and acknowledge any e-mails sent with information regarding different departments.
Treasurer
August report is on file.

Building Inspector
Comcast is laying line from Cavelier and LaSalle Cavelier to Rt. 29.
We have a avariance requested for a fence that was put in backward. No zoning board so the Council will oversee the hearing.
Citizens Wishing to Address the Council
Lisa Warren, 107 Dillon – pool concerns, green. Contacted Chief, still has not been resolved.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
Water and Sewer – Alderman Joos
Alderman Crum states the fee for a completed plan regarding PFAS completed through the engineers will be about $20,00.00.
New water employee Joe started.
Discussion about gas meter and hook up
Discussion regarding 4 valves in the amount of $42,000 thru Walker.
Law Enforcement – Alderman Babb
Streets – Alderman Neumann
New hire did not start. Will call the next in line.
New dump for logs by water tower. Will need No Trespass Signs!
Discussion sweeper repairs
Kelly Construction is waiting on metal for garage door
Discussion with Mayor Flowers regarding mutual aid – discussion of costs and quarterly billing
Public Buildings / Parks – Alderman Sipes
Discussion about complaints with GFL Environmental
Fire – Alderman Neuhaus
Cookout went well.
Phone line – rings once and goes to voice mail?
Planning – Alderman Crum
Will call about the appraisal we are waiting for.

Alderman Crum made a motion, seconded by Neuhaus to approve the Consent Agenda in its entirety. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes, Motion passed.
Approve the regular Council Meeting Minutes of September 8, 2025.
Approve September 8, Executive Council Meeting Minutes.
Approve Bi-Monthly expenditures in the sum of: $47,013.60
NEW BUSINESS
Motion to approve the purchase of tires for the fire department’s Ranger 314 vehicle from Cupies in the amount of $1,126.30. Alderman Neuhaus 01-22-5130 Roll Call Vote: All Ayes, Motion passed. 01-11-4122
Motion to approve the repair of the rear cargo/storage compartment of the Fire engine, from Integrity Welding and Fabrication not to exceed $3,000.00. Alderman Neuhaus 01-22-5130
Motion to approve the purchase of a water pump for the Ranger 314 from Amazon in the amount of $2,360.00 Alderman Neuhaus 01-22-5130
Motion to approve the removal and replacement of four valves by Walker Excavating, in the amount of $42,000.00. Alderman Joos 51-21-5185
Make a motion to approve the hiring of Brianna Johnson to fill the Office Manager position.
Make a motion to approve the repair by Key Equipment, of the knuckle on the street sweeper, in the amount of $1,485.96. Alderman Neumann 01-41-5160
CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL:
Steve Flowers discussed the PFAS filtration that is needed
ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY.
The Engineer will produce a study of the water plant.
Alderman Neumann made a motion, seconded by Neuhaus, to enter Executive Session at 7:47 p.m. for purpose of discussing of certain personnel. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
Council exited Regular Session and entered Executive Session at 7:50 p.m.
Council resumed Regular Session at 8:43p.m.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY.
ADJOURNMENT
Alderman Neumann made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhauss, to adjourn the regular City Council Meeting at 8:44 p.m. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
