U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood, who represents Illinois’ 16th district, has recently highlighted his engagements with educational institutions, veterans, and agricultural leaders through a series of posts on social media.
On November 3, 2025, LaHood acknowledged the importance of Rockford University in northern Illinois by stating, ".@RockfordUniv plays a vital role in the success of our future generations and economy in northern Illinois. I am grateful to President Patricia Lynott for the opportunity to visit campus and discuss how we can work together to strengthen higher education and support the".
The following day, November 4, LaHood joined Clerk of the U.S. House Kevin McCumber—an Illinois native—to welcome veterans at the Greater Peoria Honor Flight event in Washington D.C. He wrote, "It was an honor to join Clerk of the US House and #IL16 native Kevin McCumber to greet veterans, including his father, on the Greater Peoria Honor Flight in our nation’s capital today! Thank you to all our veterans for your dedication and service to our country! ".
On November 5, LaHood turned attention to agriculture by meeting with Chad Leman, President of Illinois Pork Producers. He posted: "Pork producers are vital to our state’s economy and food supply chain. It was great to visit with Illinois Pork Producers President, Chad Leman, in my DC office to talk about his operation in Woodford County, opportunities to expand trade, and how we can create more certainty".
Darin LaHood has served as a member of Congress since replacing Aaron Schock in 2015. In the most recent general election held in 2022, he secured re-election by defeating Elizabeth Haderlein with over 66% of the vote.
