Darin LaHood, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district, has recently shared updates on his legislative activities and participation in national events through a series of posts on social media.

On November 13, 2025, LaHood commented on the recent government shutdown, stating, "The Schumer Shutdown was costly, reckless, and completely avoidable. I was proud to join my @HouseGOP colleagues in voting to avoid a shutdown in September, and I was proud to join them again tonight to put an end to it. My full statement https://t.co/UxvWWCjXuw".

Later that day, he highlighted his attendance at a White House event with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for the signing of an executive order focused on foster care. On November 13, 2025, he posted: "It was a privilege to join @POTUS and @FLOTUS today at the White House for the signing of the Fostering the Future for American Children and Families Executive Order. On November 14, 2025, LaHood announced recognition from the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC), writing: "Honored to receive @AHTCCoalition’s Affordable Housing Champion Award! LaHood has served in Congress since replacing Aaron Schock in 2015 and currently represents Illinois' 16th district. In the most recent general election in 2022, he secured reelection by defeating Elizabeth Haderlein with over sixty-six percent of the vote.
