The Greenville City Council discussed Greenville College's Monetary Reward Program (MAP) grant funding at a special meeting recently.
Greenville College President Ivan Filby asked the council and all Greenville residents to contact state representatives and urge release of MAP grant funding, which has been held back by the state during the current budget impasse. Filby explained the MAP grant program to the council. Grant money is given to low-income Illinois students who attend college in the state. Filby said the grant is critical to Greenville College and the community as a whole, and explained its impact on the college’s ability to offer financial aid.
After Filby’s presentation, a motion was brought forward to adopt a resolution in support of MAP funding. The motion carried unanimously.
The council also heard a presentation on the city's branding initiative, conducted by NorthStar, including research findings, the final logo, various examples of logo integration and an implementation plan.
