Brimfield Board of Trustees sets date for general election

Brimfield Board of Trustees met Monday, Oct. 3.

VILLAGE OF BRIMFIELD

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MINUTES

OCTOBER 3, 2016

The Village of Brimfield Board of Trustees meeting was called to order on Monday October 3, 2016, at 7:00 pm by President Fishel with roll call attendance: A. Porter-present, Meinders-present, Gilles-present Arbogatt-Present, Dye-present, and B. Porter-present. Attorney Rick Johnson and Clerk Johnson were also present.

The minutes of the September 6, 2016 regular meeting were presented for approval Gilles made the motion seconded by Meinders motion carried 6 to 0.

The September 2016 Treasurer’s Report was presented for filing Meinders made the motion seconded by Arbogast to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried 6 to 0.

The September 2016 bills were presented for payment with a motion by Dye seconded by B. Porter. Roll call vote: A. Porter-yes, Meinders-yes, Gilles-yes, Arbogast-yes, Dye-yes and B. Porter-yes. Motion carried 6 to 0.

Old Business- none

New Business-Application for rezoning/special use is tabled until November 2016 meeting.

Planning Commission appointment-pending

Rookies Sports Bar and Grill is requesting permission for an outdoor music event on Saturday, October 15th for  a class reunion. The music would be from 8:00 pm until midnight. Meinders made the motion to approve the outside music with above stated hours, B. Porter seconded. Motion carried 6 to 0.

The construction of the park building is continuing. Additional funds have been donated to ensure that the building is completed.

The new Village pickup is currently having the tool boxes and snow plow installed.

Mr. Richardson, the Brimfield School District Superintendent, was present to meet and introduce himself to the Board. All parties expressed their desire to continue the good working relationship that exists between the Village and the School District.

The property at 306 W. Illinois Street has been sold and the liens will be paid to the Village in the amount of $20,501.00.

Ordinance 2016-7 was presented for approval. This ordinance sets the compensation for the Village President and Trustees to be elected. All salaries will remain the same. B. Porter made the motion to approve the ordinance seconded by Arbogast. Roll call vote: A. Porter-yes, Meinders-yes, Gilles-yes, Arbogast-yes, Dyeyes

and B. Porter-yes. Motion carried unanimously.

Ordinance 2016-8 was presented for approval. This ordinance sets the date for the April 4, 2017 general election. B. Porter made the motion seconded by Arbogast to approve the election date. Roll call vote: B. Porter-yes, Dye-yes, Arbogast-yes, A. Porter-yes, Meinders-yes, and Gilles-yes. Motion carried 6 to 0.

Attorney Rick Johnson informed the Board that at this time there is only one officer left from the Farmer’s Club and that he would like to donate the building to the Village for community use. It will need some updates and repairs so there would be some costs involved. The BYE use will be shifting to the firehouse so they will not be needing any space. It was noted that the food panty would be a good community use of the building. Attorney Johnson will bring the documentation and necessary papers to transfer the ownership to the November 2016 meeting for an approval.

A. Porter made the motion seconded by Gilles to approve the compliance hearings with shut offs as needed, motion carried 6 to 0.

Seeing no further business President Fishel asked for a motion to adjourn B. Porter made the motion seconded  by Gilles motion carried meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm.

The next meeting of the Village of Brimfield Board of Trustees is Monday, November 7 at 7:00 pm.
