West Peoria Public Safety Committee provides annexation update

Chairs

The city of West Peoria Public Safety Committee met Nov. 1 to provide an annexation update.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the committee:

Call to order

Chair Ganson called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.

Roll call

Members present were Chair Ganson and Alderperson Martindale. Also present were code enforcement officers Wallace and Davis, and clerk Silver. Absent was alderperson Thomas. Alderperson Reagan arrived at 6:38 p.m. and John Siewert II arrived at 6:44 p.m.

Additions to/ or deletions from the agenda

No additions or deletions to the agenda were offered.

Approval of minutes - October 18, 2016

Alderperson Martindale made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 18, 2016 meeting. Chair Ganson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Review of monthly financial report

Chair Ganson made a motion to receive and file the financial report dated September 30, 2016. Alderperson Martindale seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Public comment

Alderperson Reagan reported a property in violation and inquired about the progress with the property. Officer Wallace noted property ownership has been redefined, the exterior of the property has been repaired at city expense and indicated that the property owner has been notified of the occurrences as well as the Peoria county Sheriff's office.

i Annexation update

Officer Wallace noted improvement with wrong way parking and indicated that violations for vegetation are decreasing as expected during the fall season. Wallace also reported on action with properties in the city where ownership is being investigated, where improvement have been made or where next steps need to be taken. The committee also discussed the specifics of the basketball hoop ordinance and what constitutes a violation.

a. Peoria county animal protection services (PCAPS) report

The committee reviewed the numbers for the PCAPS report and ill ask

New business

a. discussion and possible action on cancellation of December 20, 2016 public safety meeting. Chair Ganson made a motion to cancel the December 20 meeting. Alderperson Martindale seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Public comment

No public comment was offered.

Adjournment

Chair Ganson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:07 p.m. Alderperson Martindale seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously by voice.
