Peoria County Health, Public Safety and Justice Committee met January 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Members Present: Robert Baietto - Chairman; Rachael Parker - Vice Chairman; Brian Elsasser (via teleconference); Michael Phelan; Steven Rieker (via teleconference); Phillip Salzer; Sharon Williams

Members Absent:

Others Present: Scott Sorrel - County Administrator; Ben Ciravolo - State's Attorney's Office; Brad Harding - County Board Member; Eric Dubrowski - Chief Financial Officer; Michael McCoy, Doug Gaa - Sheriff's Office; Bridget Domenighini - PCAPS; Dan O'Connell - Facilities Director; Rena' Parker - Court Administrator; Mark Little - Chief Information Officer

Call to Order:

Chairman Baietto called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm.

A motion to approve the participation of Mr. Elsasser and Mr. Rieker via teleconference was made by Mr. Salzer and seconded by Ms. Williams. Motion carried.

Approval of Minutes:

A motion to approve the Health, Public Safety and Justice Committee minutes of January 3, 2017 was made by Ms. Parker and seconded by Mr. Salzer. The motion carried.

Informational Items / Reports / Other Minutes / Updates:

• PCAPS Monthly Department Report

Ms. Domenighini advised that the new cat room is anticipated to be open by next week. She commented that adoption numbers over the past several months have increased over the same time period a year ago.

• ETSB

No report. No questions or comments from committee.

• Emergency Management Agency Update

No report. No questions or comments from committee.

• Public Defender Report

No report. No questions or comments from committee.

• Sustainability and Resource Conservation Office

Ms. Raithel advised that local vendor Advanced Technology Recycling (ATR) will begin accepting televisions from residents at no cost later this month.

Mr. Salzer asked the status of the Citizen's Convenience Center, and Ms. Raithel advised that the EPA has received application for permits, which will allow construction to begin. She commented that the center will not open for business until Landfill #3 is opened.

Resolution:

• 2017 City/County Landfill Budget

A motion to approve was made by Ms. Williams and seconded by Ms. Parker. The motion carried, with Mr. Elsasser and Mr. Rieker voting aye via teleconference.

Adjournment:

The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Baietto at 1:50 p.m.
