City Clerk Carla Brockmeier has again ignored a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, refusing to respond within the required five-day response time, according to the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).
John Kraft of the ECW has sent numerous FOIA requests to the city over recent months but said he has not received a response to his latest request, sent on April 27. Kraft is seeking copies of all FOIA requests the city has received since Nov. 1, 2016, including the legally required notations showing the day the city received each request and day on which the city’s response was required.
Kraft said he has again sent a request for review to the state attorney general’s public access counselor.
“Maybe it is time for the residents of Carlinville to find another City Clerk?" he posted on the group's Illinois Leaks website. "One that can follow simple instructions found in the Freedom Of Information Act? Once again, we ask the residents and taxpayers of Carlinville to tell your city council how much you appreciate them throwing your hard-earned tax money at an attorney instead of simply following the law and providing the requested records.”
