Stark board members accused of lying about special meeting

A government oversight group is calling for the resignation of three Stark County Board members whom the group accuses of lying about having no knowledge of a special board meeting recently.

The Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW) say an email from the county's state's attorney proves chairwoman Colleen Magnussen, Fulvio Zerla, Al Curry, J. Thomas Howes, Robin Lindner, William Loane, Lynn Newton and Melissa Shipp were aware of the meeting.

The subject line of the email was: “Special meeting of the Stark County Board on Thursday, June 15, at 7:35 p.m.," according to the ECW.

A portion of the email read: “This letter will serve as an update and discussion of the special meeting of the County Board tonight at 7:35 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Stark County Junior High School.”

"Board members Magnussan, Howes and Lindner should resign for lying to us by claiming this was not a special meeting when overwhelming evidence proves they knew such a claim was false!" the ECW said on their Illinois Leaks website.
