Peoria Heights Public Library Board of Trustees met June 13.

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Peoria Heights Public Library was held in the Local
History Room on June 13, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by the President.
Roll Call: The following members answered the roll call: Jeanette Hillyer, Bill Bradley, Anne
Lockhart, Tom Horstmann and Lisa Reinholtz
Absent: Margy Simmons, Nancy Marshall
Also present: Shawn Edwards, Director
Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of May 2017 were approved as printed.
Public Comments: No one from the public was present to offer comments.
Bills: After examining the bills, Bill Bradley moved, seconded by Tom Horstmann that the
bills be approved and paid. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Jeanette Hillyer, Bill Bradley,
Anne Lockhart, Tom Horstmann and Lisa Reinholtz. No Nays, motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: There was no May 2017 Treasurer’s Report.
Director’s Report
Director Edwards gave the following reports:
Asphalting, sealing and striping of the parking lot were completed in the past month. New signage for
the handicap and motorcycle parking spaces has been ordered from the village and should be installed in
the next few weeks.
Pauli Builders replaced the handles on the door between the children’s area and the meeting room. The
new handles lock from either side of the door and improve building security.
Annual review – Patty Norbom: Director Edwards discussed Patty’s work and recommended that the
board grant her a step raise. Discussion followed. Tom moved, seconded by Ann Lockhart, to give Patty
a step raise. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Jeanette Hillyer, Bill Bradley, Anne Lockhart, Tom Horstmann
and Lisa Reinholtz. No Nays, motion carried.
Annual review – Jennifer Dodson: Director Edwards discussed Jennifer’s work and recommended that
the board grant her a step raise. Discussion followed. Tom moved, seconded by Ann Lockhart, to give
Patty a step raise. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Jeanette Hillyer, Bill Bradley, Anne Lockhart, Tom
Horstmann and Lisa Reinholtz. No Nays, motion carried.
The Governmental Affairs Committee has started meeting under direction of the village. Officials from
the village, Richwoods Township, PHCUSD #325, the library, Peoria Heights Chamber of Commerce
and the Peoria Heights Historical Society will meet monthly to exchange information and work on
cooperative efforts within the village.
“The Flutter and Buzz Patrol” will start on June 27. The garden has developed nicely and should provide
plenty of flowers and attract many pollinators to aid in education efforts during the project.
The Summer Reading Challenge started on June 1. Early sessions have been very popular. Turnout for
design labs and open play has been very high.
President’s Repor
The president requested that Director’s Evaluation forms be returned to her by July 1, 2017. The
director’s evaluation will be at the July 2017 board meeting.
New Business
An Armed Forces Celebration Day will be held at Pour Brothers on July 22 from 4 p.m. to midnight.
The Peoria Heights Fire Department is holding a hundredth anniversary celebration at Tower Park on
July 15 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
