Rep. Tim Butler (R-Springfield) said he was glad to sponsor HR744, a resolution honoring West Lincoln-Broadwell Elementary School student-athletes.
“It is a true honor for me to welcome the West Lincoln-Broadwell Wolverines seventh and eighth grade (girls) basketball teams who both won state titles in Class 1A,” Butler said Feb. 27 during House floor debate.
He said the eighth-graders had a 93-2 record and the seventh-grade team went 55-0.
“Some pretty darn good basketball players in Logan County, so on behalf of myself and the House, thank you for being here girls, and if we can give them a great warm welcome to Springfield that would be awesome,” Butler said before passage of the resolution, which reads aside from their individual state wins, the General Assembly honors them for their “humility and respect for one another as a team on and off the basketball court.”
