City of Chillicothe Shade Makers Committee met Jan. 31.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Shademakers Committee Meeting met January 31, 2018. The meeting was called to order Chairperson Trish Connor at 4:37pm.

Present: Mayor White; Alderman Trish Connor; Secretary Judi Thornton; Maria Geiger; Barb…..; Myron Hummel

Also present: Alderman Gary Sharp

2018-2019 Shademakers Budget was presented by Chairperson Connor.

 Shademakers budgeted amount is $4,200 for 2018-2019 fiscal year. City funding comes from General Funds and TIF.

 Promotional materials asking for donations brought an additional $404 in August and December of 2017.

2018 Potential Projects:

1. Future project ideas were discussed:

o Myron Hummel will investigate resources to procure trees for city planting and/or promotionals.

 Arbor Day is April 27th. The committee discussed the potential of a young tree give-away project for residents.

o Catch the Beauty awards will be presented during Claude Ellen Days this year. The purpose is to provide exposure to more residents.

o In the past, Shademakers hosted projects during spring cleanup and Christmas decorating. These projects will continue.

 Other potential ideas include:

      Christmas Lighting Contest

      July 4th Celebration

      Homecoming

o Maria proposed budgeting for the downtown city planters and letting business owners decorate the pots. Including the potential for business owners advertisement in the pots; such as flags and/or signs, etc.

Adjournment: 5:30pm motion to adjourn by Myron Hummel and seconded by Barb ----. All voted in favor.
