Hollis Township Board of Trustees met February 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

After the Clerk led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag @ 7:00 p.m. the Supervisor called the meeting to order at the Hollis Town Hall, 6430 West Wheeler Road, Mapleton, Illinois 61547-9615.

Board Members Present for Roll Call:

Supervisor William J. Gerdes; Clerk Cheryl A. Archer; Trustees: James E. Bailey, Maryann S. Morrison and Rich D. Murray.

The Supervisor announced a quorum was present. Trustee Justin R. Eagan was excused.

The Road Commissioner Dennis R. Beckman attended this meeting. The Tax Assessor Alice B. Dailey was not available.

There were no corrections or additions to the Agenda. There were no visitors.

Approve Minutes of Previous Meetings:

Prior to tonight’s meeting, copies of the January 25 2018 ~ Minutes from the Regular Monthly Meeting were distributed to Board Members for their review.

Motion to accept the Minutes as presented made by Rich Murray; second Jim Bailey. The motion passed unanimously with all ayes.

Audit Current Expenditures, Investments, Transfer of Funds, Budget Line Item Transfers:

1. Motion to accept for payment all Town Fund Invoices as presented to the Board on the Disbursement Summary February 22, 2018 in the amount of $ 6,814.20.

Motion Morrison; second Murray. The motion passed with all ayes on a roll call vote.

2. Motion to accept for payment all Road & Bridge Fund Invoices as presented to the Board on the Disbursement Summary February 22, 2018 in the amount of $ 16,239.32.

Motion Morrison; second Bailey. The motion passed with all ayes on a roll call vote.

3. Motion to accept for payment the Joint Bridge Fund Invoice as presented to the Board on the Disbursement Summary February 22, 2018 in the amount of $ 168.97.

Motion Murray; second Morrison. The motion passed with all ayes on a roll call vote.

4. Motion to accept for payment the following expense from Road & Bridge Fund:

$1,000.00 from Salaries LI 31500 to Town Fund Salaries LI 11500

$ 62.00 from Social Security LI 31508 to Town Fund Social Security LI 11508

$ 14.50 from Medicare LI 31510 to Town Fund Medicare LI 11510

Total Transfer $ 1,076.50 ~ made with this Board Audit, February 22, 2018

Motion Bailey; second Murray. The motion passed with all ayes on a roll call vote.

This transfer is reimbursement to Town Fund for the Annual Salary of the Supervisor who serves as the Treasurer of the Road District The Salary is a set amount and cannot be more than $1,000. for the current fiscal year 2017-2018: however, the additional $76.50 is the cost to the employer for this salary (in this case the employer is the Road District).

Procedure for this transfer was verified by our auditors, Willock Warning & Co., P.C..

Town Building, Grounds & Equipment:

Roof on the office building could be replaced this year. The front doorway and other trim on the office building needs repainting.

Communications & Correspondence:

Statements of Economic Interest have been received by our Township Clerk from most of the Hollis Township Elected Officials. Cheryl Archer, our Clerk is waiting for copies from two of our Elected Officials.

As soon as all Statements of Economic Interest are received, Cheryl will deliver them to the Peoria County Clerk’s office for filing.

Town Business ~ Supervisor:

Supervisor Gerdes would like to attend Topics Day. Wed., April 25, 2018. See #2 ~ in New Business.

Road Business ~ Highway Commissioner:

1. Since the snow events keep occurring on the weekends, it has not been good for our budget.

2. Road Commissioner has looked at 2 tandem truck cabs to replace the damaged section of our 2004 Tandem, but they were both the wrong “dog house”. Denny talked with a dealer about cutting just the top off of the cab --- dealer does not recommend this procedure.

The estimated cost for a new tandem cab and chasis may be $ 68,000.

We have received an insurance check from TOIRMA in the amount of $27,218.24 for the loss of our 2004 cab.

3. Denny attended a Tri-County Road Commissioners Meeting. He thought it was good to see how other counties operate. They have at least 6 meetings a year. Peoria County averages only 1 per year.

4. Denny is getting ready to put bids out for seal coating through Peoria County. He is checking our Township roads to see what may need to be seal coated.

2. Township Officials of Illinois ~~ 36th Annual Topics Day ~~ Wednesday, April 25, 2018

In Springfield, Illinois. TOI deadline for reservations is April 18, 2018. Cost is $75.00 per person.

Registration includes lunch, handout materials and the reception.

Motion to approve payment of $75.00 per person registration fee for the 36th Annual Topics Day to be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 beginning at 11:30 a.m. @ the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel @ 701 East Adams Street in downtown Springfield, Illinois.

Motion: Murray; second Morrison. The motion passed with all ayes on a roll call vote.
