City of Chillicothe Cemetery Committee met March 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Chairman Connor called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm

Present: Chairman Connor Alderman Jenkins

Alderman Gould

Also in attendance: Mayor White Clerk Hurd Alderman Sharp

Superintendent of Public Works, Shawn Sutherland

Absent: None

City Clean Up Voucher Program-

Chairman Connor introduced Eric Shangraw from Wigand Disposal. Mr. Shangraw presented a voucher based program for the city’s annual clean up. Mr. Shangraw explained the program as follows:

1. Resident would pick up voucher at City Hall

2. Resident must show ID as proof of residents

3. Voucher would have an expiration date

4. Resident would take items along with voucher and proper ID to the drop off site at Wigand Disposal

5. Wigand Disposal would bill the city for vouchers in the amount of $25.00 each

Discussion was held on possible dates that the vouchers would be redeemable. The consensus of the committee was positive for the program.

Game Time – Renee Beard-

Chairman Connor told the committee that she had invited Renee Beard from Game Time to give a short presentation on the possibilities for the Sycamore Trail Park. Ms. Beard told the committee that she did not have a formal presentation to give because she did not know a budgeted amount for the project. She explained to the committee that she could design a project in phases but needed a starting point. She showed an example of ADA designed park similar to the size the city has available to utilize. The estimated cost for that project was $75,000.00. Discussion on the installation process was also discussed.

Right Tree/Right Place Grant Program-

Mayor White introduced information on the Right Tree, Right Place Grant Program by Ameren. He explained that Ameren will work with municipalities to identify trees which may need removed and will provide funds ($125 per tree) to replace the trees that were removed as to promote the Tree City USA Program. Discussion was held on obtaining Tree City USA certification. Chairman Connor said that she would present the program at her next Shademaker meeting and work with Superintendent Sutherland on the program.
