City of El Paso Board of Zoning Appeals met April 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The meeting was called to order by Kevin Laydon at 6:00 pm.

Attendees for the meeting were Kevin Laydon Wes Ooms, Nancy Johnson, James Crump and Chris Gentes. Kim Kearney was absent. Also present were Jack Hickok Director of Public Service and William Prochnow.

Mr. Prochnows request concerns the property at 17 East Main in El Paso. This property is commonly known as the Ivy Gardens and consists of the Flower Shop, Miniature golf course and the Depot. The area variance request is to allow for a reduced side setback between the Depot building and the Ivy Shop. This is a request for what amounts to a Zero setback from North to South between the two property buildings. Mr Prochnow has an opportunity to sell the Depot property but needs the area variance to do so.

The Board members reviewed the drawings of the suggested lot lines and clarified where and why the setback variance was needed. The setback variance is only for the areas affected between the two buildings. The outer lot boundaries will remain as current. After much discussion of the property lines and the proposed setbacks a motion was made by Nancy Johnson to allow the variance. Seconded by Wes Ooms. All members present voted yes to recommend the variance. It will be voted on at the Regular Council meeting on April 30, 2018.

The meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm
