PEORIA PARK DISTRICT: Peoria Park District is Dancing into Fun this Fall!

Dancedeprtmt

Peoria Park District issued the following announcement on Aug. 21.

The Peoria Park District is excited to welcome Christian Naven as the new Director of the Dance Department! Christian fell in love with dance as a young child and has not stopped since. She attended Illinois State University where she majored in dance and theater. She has been coaching for more than 25 years and has coached teams with ISU, Bradley, the Philadelphia 76ers, and with a few Peoria area dance studios.

Christian has had many students go on to become professional dancers or dance teachers themselves. Christian says her true passion is teaching young dancers and watching them grow as dancers and people and she is excited to be teaching in her hometown of Peoria!

Under Christian's direction, the District has retooled its class offerings to make them more user-friendly and has developed a schedule that invites students to learn multiple styles of dance. Check out our fall schedule here.

To help kick off the fall dance season, the Peoria Park District is throwing a Party at the Palace! This royal event will take place on Saturday, August 25th from 10am to 12pm at Franciscan Recreation Complex.

Party at the Palace is for children ages 2 to 8 (and their parents). Princess dress-up is encouraged for attendees! This event will be a magical day where little princesses will enjoy:

learning a dance to their favorite princess songs

princess pampering - a mini manicure session with the royal staff

princess wand making station

enchanting meet-and-greet and photo opportunities with a real princess

cookies & punch and a princess favor bag

Registration is $10 per princess. You can register online or at any Park District facility.
