CITY OF DELAVAN: Tornado Siren Info

Tornadosiren

City of Delavan issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.

On September 29, 2019, the City of Delavan was placed under a tornado warning. The fire department deployed spotters to weather watch. Tazewell County EMA also had spotters in our area. With spotter information and live radar feeds, it was determined that the tornado cell was NOT in the direct path to the City and, therefore, the siren was not activated to indicate that a tornado was headed towards the city. It has been past pracices that the siren is only blown when there is an immediate threat of a tornado to the City.

This is also a good time to remind everyone that the sirens are only designed for warning people outside of structures. Please make sure that you have alternate sources of warning information, i.e., phone alerts, weather radios, etc., in the event of a severe storm.
