Peoria Public Library has begun offering curbside pickup as Illinois continues to follow social-distancing measures amid COVID-19.
“We've had patrons demand to have some access to our library materials, and we wanted to be able to offer that to folks as soon as it was safe to do so,” library director Randall Yelverton told WGLT.
Library patrons can place orders by phone or online for up to five items at Peoria Public Library’s Main, Lakeview or North branches. Items will not be placed back in circulation until three days after they are returned through the library’s book drop.
Library staff will call patrons when items are ready to be picked up. When patrons arrive, staff members will place the items into their vehicle’s side door or trunk. Staff will be wearing masks.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker recently modified Illinois’ stay-at-home order to allow nonessential businesses to reopen under the condition of providing delivery or outside pick-up options.
