CANTON CITY: Public Hearing Notice May 21, 2020 - Downstate Small Business Stabilization Applications

Canton City issued the following announcement on May 15.

The City of Canton will hold a public hearing on May 21, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. at the Graham Wellness Center, 235 W Walnut Street, Canton, IL 61520 to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed Downstate Small Business Stabilization applications funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.

Due to social distancing requirements, and in an effort to protect the public from potential further spread of COVID-19, all persons interested in expressing their views on the proposed Downstate Small Business Stabilization applications funded by CDBG funds may attend the public hearing by attending via a Zoom Webinar as follows:

Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact Diana Pavely-Rock, City Clerk, 2 N. Main Street, Canton, Illinois 61520 via phone at (309) 647-0065, or via e-mail at DPavely@cantoncityhall.org, beginning on May 12, 2020 and no later than the start of the public hearing on May 21, 2020. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

On or about May 21, 2020, the City of Canton intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for grants from the State CDBG program. This program is funded by Title 1 of the Federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used to provide working capital for the benefit of the below named businesses. The amount of CDBG funds to be requested are set forth below. The CDBG funds will address the urgent needs of the businesses due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Information related to these applications will be available for review prior to the public hearing, as of May 12, 2020, online at http://www.cantonillinois.org and at the office of the City Clerk, 2 N. Main Street, Canton, IL 61520 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., when said office is open to the general public. When the City Clerk’s office is closed to the general public, applications will also be available for review prior to the public review, beginning on May 12, 2020, outside of the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce Office, located at 209 E. Chestnut, Canton, IL 61520, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. This project will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses.
