Due to a water main break on June 29 at the intersection of Main Street and S.W. Adams Street, there will be changes to the road closure schedule in downtown Peoria for the Red, White, & BOOM! fireworks display. The event is sponsored by Choose Greater Peoria and i3 Broadband.

Main Street from S.W. Adams Street to S.W. Washington Street is currently closed and will remain so through July 4th. It was initially scheduled to close at 8 p.m. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes as travel delays are expected after the fireworks.

Other closures remain unchanged:

- At 9 a.m., the Liberty Street Riverfront parking lot and the parking lot next to Martini’s on Water will close.

- The Caterpillar parking lot at S.W. Washington Street and Hamilton Boulevard is reserved for VIP permit holders and persons with disabilities.

Road closures starting at noon include:

- S.W. Water Street from State Street to Eaton Street

- Walnut, Harrison, Liberty Streets between S.W. Washington and S.W. Water Streets

- Main Street between S.W. Washington and S.W. Water Streets

- Hamilton Boulevard between these streets

Only vendors, exhibitors, property owners at 401 S.W. Water Street, and Ameren employees can access these areas during this time with permits required for vendor entry into the Riverfront until 4 p.m.

Additional closures begin at 8 p.m.:

- Liberty Street between S.W. Adams and S.W. Washington Streets

- Fulton Street between these streets

The Bob Michel Bridge will close to all traffic at 8:30 p.m., coinciding with I-74 eastbound exit closures of exits 93, 94, and 95.

Organizers advise against bringing personal fireworks or sparklers as "Choose Greater Peoria Red, White, and BOOM!, presented by i3 Broadband, will have all the fireworks you will need." Bikes, skateboards, rollerblades or scooters are not allowed on Riverfront grounds; neither are pets except ESA-certified service animals.

Drones near riverfronts or bridges are banned along with outside alcohol or drugs; grills; weapons; open flames; laser pointers; vehicle sidewalk parking; non-lawn chair furniture also prohibited.
