City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks Committee met May 19.

The Cemetery Parks Committee met via teleconference at 4:30 p.m. in the Council chambers at City Hall. The meeting was broadcasted to the public via ZOOM.
Present at the Meeting in the Council Chambers: Chairman Jenkins, Alderman Bredeman, Mayor White, Clerk Hurd, ED Director Beadles, Superintendent of Public Works Sutherland.
Present at the Meeting via teleconference: Alderman Connor, City Engineer Coulter
Chairman Jenkins called the meeting to order at 4:30pm
Public Comment: Alderman Sharp appeared before the committee and read a statement concerning the eagle sculpture that was placed at the riverfront. He stated two issues to address:
1. The eagle was a golden eagle and not a bald eagle like it was intended. He suggested painting the wooden sculpture to represent a bald eagle.
2. There are flaws in the structure (cracks) that need to be caulked. A lengthy discussion was held and it was the consensus of the committee that they do not want to make changes to the sculpture without speaking with the artist who carved it or the Rotary Club that paid for it. Mayor White asked ED Director Beadles to contact the Rotary Club.
Bike Tail Update: Alderman Jenkins gave an update on the bike. He informed the committee that he will be holding a ZOOM meeting on Thursday with the committee. Mayor White told the committee that he had spoken with Jeff Admire (a member of the committee) about possible fundraising for the project.
Eagle Landing Platform: Mayor White gave a bit of history on the project. He informed the committee that Engineer Coulter had found a company that with construct a wood platform. Mayor White also explained that the money for the project would come from TIF Funds. Engineer Coulter explained the options for moving forward. He recommended going with a specific vendor or a design build. After more discussion it was the consensus of the committee to turn the project over to the City Engineer to work with a vendor.
Fishing Dock: Mayor White informed the committee that the city will be getting a $165,000.00 from Western Barge for the damage that was done to the boat dock. He suggested that the city use the funds to construct a fishing dock in place of the boat dock that was damaged. The consensus of the committee was in favor of the project, the project will be turned over to the City Engineer to design and price.
Park Equipment- RFQ Update: Mayor White explained that he selection of a company was mad and projects were ready to go to council at the time the COVID Pandemic broke out. The committee held discussion on whether to move forward or continue to place on hold. It was the consensus that Mayor White will notify Cunningham (Game Time) representative that they were selected however with budget constraints the projects may have to be pushed back to next year.
Buy Back Cemetery Lot - King: Clerk Hurd presented a request from Terrance A and Karen S King for the city to buy back Section 32, Lot 73 in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. It was the consensus of the committee to seek council approval for the buy back.
OLD BUSINESS: Superintendent Sutherland informed the committee that they are in the process of removing a tree from downtown parking lot and asked if the committee would like to consider a carving being made from the remaining trunk. It was the consensus of the committee to have Alderman Sharp contact Tim Gill ln regards to a carving.
