Hopedale Fire Protection District responded to 20 calls in 2018 - 25 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hopedale included 10 fires - five structure fires, one vehicle fire and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $290,300 in fire loss - or about $29,030 per fire.

The department also received 10 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Hopedale Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $201,336 in 2018.
