West Peoria Fire Protection District responded to 63 calls in 2018 - 6.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in West Peoria included 38 fires - 23 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and eight other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $199,700 in fire loss - or about $5,255 per fire.

The department also received 24 false calls, including two malicious calls and 22 other false calls.

The West Peoria Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $130,184 in 2018.
