CITY OF CANTON: Boil Order Lifted for Myrtle/Olive Area. New Break Requires Boil Order for Ave. F

City Of Canton issued the following announcement on Oct. 2.

Water Main Break and Boil Order Information

The City often encounters water main breaks, especially in times of freezing and thawing ground temperatures. Some breaks result in a total loss of service, some only in low pressure. Some require a Boil Order, while others do not.

If you experience low pressure or loss of service, please call Public Works at 309-647-5022. If your issue occurs outside of regular business hours (M-F 8am-5pm), please call the non-emergency police dispatch center (309-647-5131) or visit the Canton Police Department Facebook page.

Current Water Main Breaks

The Boil Order for the area of W. Vine St. from North Main St. to N. Ave B. Also on N. Ave A from W. Olive St. to W. Vine St., and on N. Ave B from W. Olive St. to W. Vine St. has now been LIFTED.

However, a new water main break that occurred today in the area of Avenue F will require a Boil Order when water service is restored.

Location affected includes: North Avenue F from Cass Place to Old West Vine Street

Cass Place from Avenue E. To Avenue F

Please call the Public Works Dept. 647-5022 for any questions, and check back here, or on the Canton Police Department Facebook page for updates.

In the event of a Boil Order, residents should first run their tap a bit until water runs clear. Then any water used for consumption or cooking must be brought to a full, rolling boil and then boiled for at least one minute, then cooled before use.

Boil Orders are in effect until the City receives the laboratory results to clear the order, which takes a day or two.
