Peoria closed city offices on Nov. 18 under the guidance of the Illinois Department of Public Health due to rising COVID-19 cases.

All city offices will remain closed until the spread of the virus is controlled, the city said in a release posted on its website.

City staff will continue to report to work to handle requests from the public and regular work. The public will need to contact staff members by phone or email. Contact information for city departments is available at peoriagov.org/government-offices.

“Closing City buildings to the public is an important preventative measure to protect our staff while allowing us to continue our services,” Mayor Jim Ardis said in the release. “We are still available by phone or email to assist your needs. We thank the public for their understanding.”

City Hall Hours of operation are from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Reopening city hall to the public depends on the number of COVID-19 cases in the area.

Visit peoriagov.org or call 494-CARE for information.

Reports about the spread of the coronavirus can be found on the Peoria City/County Health Department COVID-19 page at pcchd.org/COVID-19.
