City of Chillicothe Cemetery, Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee met June 21.

The Cemetery Parks Committee met at 5:00 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
Members of the Committee present at the meeting:

Alderperson Connor
Alderperson Bredeman
Absent: Superintendent Shawn Sutherland
Also present in the Council Chambers: Mayor Hughes, Clerk Hurd and Alderperson Sharp
Public Comment:
Chairman Jenkins acknowledged Township Supervisor Mike Ratcliff and Debbie Crew from Otto’s Monuments. He asked for their comments to be heard during agenda item Repair and Maintenance Head Stones.
22-23 Budge:
Chairman Jenkins reported that the budget was within guidelines.
Repair and Maintenance Head Stones:
In the absence of Superintendent Sutherland, Debbie Crew of Otto’s Monuments reported on the status of the project. She presented the committee with a prioritized list of repairs and told the committee that the city would be invoiced on time and materials as each monument is completed. Work will stop once the $4,000.00 has been used.
The committee discussed the need to budget each year for repairs. Township Supervisor Ratcliff informed the committee that the Township would be willing to commit funds in the future. The consensus of the committee was to seek council approval to spend up to the $4,000.00 for repairs.
Memorial Bench-Sharon Crabel:
Township Supervisor Ratcliff reported that he along with Superintendent Sutherland will meet with the Veteran’s Memorial Commission to identify placement of the bench and also the relocation of the Downtown Veteran’s Memorial to the cemetery. They will report back at next month’s meeting.
Sidewalk Concrete Repair:
Due to the absence of Superintendent Sutherland there was no report.
Voucher Program:
Alderperson Connor reported the voucher program will start August 1-September 30, 2022. She asked that the committee seek council approval for the annual program in the amount of $10,000.00. The committee agreed to put the voucher program on the council agenda for approval.
Purchase Trees:
Alderperson Connor gave a report from Superintendent Sutherland on trees to purchase through Hoerr Nursery in the amount of $666.00 for city parks.
OLD BUSINESS
Update Shademakers: Alderperson Connor gave a brief update on Shademakers projects. Update -Approved Projects: No Report
