City of Pekin Fire and Police Commission met June 23.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Minutes of the meeting of the Fire and Police Commission held at 8:30 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Present at the meeting: Commissioners Dennis Short, Joel Jackson

Also present: Deputy Fire Chief Tony Rendleman, Deputy Police Chief Jeff Little, Deputy Police Chief Seth Ranney

Commissioner Short called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.

A motion was made by Commissioner Jackson to approve the meeting agenda. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

A motion was made by Commissioner Jackson to approve the May 26, 2022 meeting minutes. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

Departmental Reports

1. FD - Probationary Reports

All probationary Firefighters are doing fine at this time.

2. PD – Probationary Reports

All probationary Officers are doing fine at this time.

3. PD – Original Appointment Final List

4. FD - City Manager Letter - Request to Hire

A motion was made by Commissioner Jackson to receive and file these reports. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

Bill:

FD - All Purpose Polygraph, Pre-employment Polygraphs NS, TD - $300.00

A motion was made by Commissioner Jackson to recognize the timely payment of the above listed bills as submitted. Commissioner Short seconded the motion. All in favor.

Old Business:

1. FD - Original Appointment Testing

Eleven applications have been received so far. The testing date is July 9, 2022.

New Business:

1. FD – Applicant Age Requirement

The Commission was made aware of a recent statute change regarding the age requirement waiver for experienced Firefighters. The statute had stated the experience had to be for the same municipality. The statute now allows for the age requirement to be waived for those who have previous experience in any municipality.

Executive Session - 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) 1 - Personnel

All Other Business Deemed Necessary by the Commissioners Lee Ann was directed to provide the information requested in the recent subpoena served to the Commission.
