A Peoria County jury has found Cathy A. Logan, 55, guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Tenazisha Green, 26. The verdict was reached after approximately 90 minutes of deliberation on November 5, 2025.
The incident occurred in August 2023 at a Phillips 66 gas station on Western Avenue in Peoria. Police responded to reports of a stabbing and found Green on the ground with two women attempting to stop bleeding from a chest wound. Officers continued life-saving efforts, but Green was pronounced dead at the hospital.
During the three-day trial, a witness testified that Logan arrived at the gas station, set down her purse, took a pair of scissors, approached Green, and stabbed her. The witness and another woman tried to help Green while Logan fled the scene.
Logan claimed she acted in self-defense, stating that Green had threatened her and dropped a knife during their encounter. She said she picked up the knife and stabbed Green.
However, surveillance footage presented during the trial showed both women approaching from different directions. The video depicted Green walking away as Logan approached and stabbed her in the chest. At no point did Green drop a knife or did Logan pick up any object as described in her testimony. Afterward, Logan walked away before returning to retrieve the weapon used and then left the area. The weapon was not recovered.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 19, 2025.
