City of Chillicothe Human Resource Committee met Sept. 1.

The Human Resource Committee met at 5:10 p. m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
Present: Chairperson Gehrig, Mayor Hughes, Alderperson Vanbruwaene, Alderperson Sharp, Alderperson Connor, Detective Jeremy Cooper
Chairman Gehrig called the meeting to order at 5:10 p. m.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
None
Chairperson Gehrig introduced Detective Jeremy Cooper who was chosen to be the next Chillicothe Chief of Police with a start date effective November 4, 2022, at 12:00 a. m.
Chairperson Gehrig made a motion to adjourn to a closed session, second Alderperson Sharp, at 5:15 p.m.
The committee reconvened the open session at 5:33 p.m. and requested that Detective Cooper returns to council chambers.
Chairperson Gehrig outlined the Supervisors Wage and Benefits policy to Detective Cooper and a salary of $77, 508.80 with the understanding that the offer is contingent upon the approval from the City Council Alderpersons. Detective Cooper then counteroffered $87,500.00.
Chairperson Gehrig made a motion to convene to closed session, second Sharp at 5:50 p.m.
Chairperson Gehrig reconvened the open session at 6 01 p.m. and informed Detective Cooper that the committee would be offering him a salary of $82,500.00 for the Police Chief position. Detective Cooper accepted the offer. Detective Cooper was then dismissed from the meeting.
Chairperson Gehrig informed the committee that the Public Works department was placing an ad for two full-time City employees for Public Works. She also informed the committee that Superintendent Sutherland was going to find out if there was a decision made regarding; the update to the union contract to waive the CDL qualification.
Alderperson Gehrig made a motion to adjourn the meeting, second Alderperson Vanbruwaene. The meeting was adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
