City of Chillicothe Public Safety Committee met Jan. 3.

Members of the Public Safety Committee met in person on January 3, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Chairman Jenkins called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Public Comment:
None.
Purpose:
BUDGET 22-23
Chief Cooper reported all line items were within budget guidelines.
STOP SIGN INTERSECTION OF ASH AND FIRST STREETS:
Chairman Jenkins reported after reviewing the areas of Ash and First streets that a stop sign be placed on Ash Street. Chief Cooper agreed, after a brief discussion it was the consensus of the committee was to move this to Council as an agenda item.
BUDGET 23-24
Chief Cooper reported due to the age of several of the police cruisers that he will place in the 23-24 budget the cost of a new cruiser. It will be discussed in a future meeting as to when the cruiser will be purchased.
PURCHASE OF 2 FLOCK AUTOMATED LICENSE PLATE READERS:
Chief Cooper presented to the committee the need for 2 automated license plate readers which would assist the city with Amber alerts, Silver alerts, stolen vehicles, and suspended licenses. Cost would be $6500.00 for the first year, and $5000.00 yearly following the first year. Payable from the Police Protection Fund. After a brief discussion the consensus of the committee was to move this to Council as an agenda item.
MEG - Fiduciary:
Chief Cooper reported that he had been in contact with the Director Wilson of MEG-Fiduciary. They will meet January 10th, 2023 and he will report back after that date.
UPDATE: CHILLICOTHE POLICE DPARTMENT:
Chief Cooper gave a report on impounded vehicles and ordinance zone statistics.
UPDATE: CHILLICOTHE COMMUNITY FIRE DISTRICT:
Assistant Fire Chief Dave Price reported they have had a total of 586 calls for 2022. A total of 4 calls year to date 2023. Chief Price reported that he has reviewed the plans for the Gilmore's Sports Bar building permit and he has given his approval of the plans for improvement.
NEW/OLD PROPERTY MAINTENANCE:
1317 First Street - Chief Cooper reported that he has referred the notice to abate the Code violations regarding 1317 First Street property to the Public Works Department to remove the violations.
OLD BUSINESS:
1007 Santa Fe - Chairman Jenkins stated that this property would continue to be discussed in future Public Safety Meetings.
