City of Pekin Fire and Police Commission met March 23.

Minutes of the meeting of the Fire and Police Commission held Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. in the City Hall Conference Room.
Present at the meeting: Commissioners Mike Franks, Ed Mulvey
Also present: Police Chief John Dossey, Deputy Police Chief Jeff Little,
Deputy Police Chief Seth Ranney, Fire Chief Trent Reeise, Deputy Fire Chief Tony Rendleman
Commissioner Franks called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
A motion was made by Commissioner Franks to approve the meeting agenda. Commissioner Mulvey seconded the motion. All in favor.
A motion was made by Commissioner Mulvey to approve the February 23, 2023 meeting minutes. Commissioner Franks seconded the motion. All in favor.
A motion was made by Commissioner Mulvey to approve the March 20, 2023 executive meeting minutes. Commissioner Franks seconded the motion. All in favor.

The list was reviewed by commissioners. Applicants are currently going through the background process for the Police Academy beginning in May.
A motion was made by Commissioner Mulvey to receive and file these reports. Commissioner Franks seconded the motion. All in favor.

Old Business:
FD Promotional Testing Timeline
There are fourteen testing for driver/engineer, four testing for Battalion Chief, and 6 testing for Captain. The exact time of testing is being discussed as to what fits best with scheduling and making sure all shifts are adequately covered during testing. The FD is working with Steve Hale to proctor tests. Oral interviews are scheduled for March 23, 2023 after the regular Fire and Police Commission meeting.
New Business:
The PD is looking at testing again in July for Original Appointment. Commissioners will need to approve a date for testing. Looking at potentially the last two weeks of July or the end of June.
